Are you teaching an online or blended course for Summer Session II or this Fall? Join this Design Sprint Faculty Learning Community and we’ll help you clarify your course goals, configure your syllabus, your ELMS site and your weekly units of study.

Only the first session is in-person; the rest you can join online from the comforts of your beach vacation or your basement.

Course Design Retreat

Spend the day with colleagues and TLTC staff to learn about evidence-based teaching practices and apply them to your own course design. We will engage in the process of backward design by writing effective learning outcomes, planning equitable assessments, and exploring ideas for student engagement. Other topics include syllabus construction, using ELMS to support student learning, creating a more inclusive classroom climate, and attending to issues of academic integrity.

Spend the day with colleagues and the TLTC staff to learn about some of the most compelling research on teaching practices and course design to enhance student learning outcomes, increase student engagement, be more efficient with your time, and foster inclusive classroom climates. Topics will include backward design, writing learning outcomes, formative assessment, rubrics, teamwork, syllabus construction, classroom management, and academic integrity.

Moving Online: Course Design and Development Retreat

Spend the day with colleagues, DIT and TLTC staff to learn about course design for online formats. Whether you are preparing to teach a fully online course, or considering incorporating online elements, this retreat will introduce you to the theories and tools to support your efforts. Topics will include overall best practices and common mistakes, content development, communication and assessment strategies, and accessibility considerations. Bring your laptop and get helpful feedback on your course design ideas. Lunch will be provided.
